Meet Our Staff

Debra Sharpe is the Executive Director, who came to work in the nonprofit field by chance. Having always been involved in volunteering, causes and community organizations, her first nonprofit job was with the American Heart Association in Illinois and Missouri as a field representative. She can't imagine doing other work. Email

Robyn Chapman is our Community Relations manager. In her previous role at St.Clare-Newport, she oversaw activities, volunteers and key development events. At Wyndham Newport Resorts, she was in charge of special events. As a member of the Navy Command’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation Program and a certified customer service professional, she counseled families and provided readiness support. She likes bringing groups together, making a difference and working with under-served populations. Email

Doreen Grasso works as our Youth Sports Concussion Program Coordinator. Doreen has been involved in the education field in varying capacities for the past 25 years. She received her bachelor's degree from Rhode Island College, where she is currently an adjunct professor. She holds a master's from Cambridge College. Having had sustained a TBI, she is grateful for the opportunity to serve the mission. Email

Richard Muto is our Education/Resource Center Manager who attended the University of Rhode Island. His previous work in the nonprofit field was for AIDS Project Rhode Island. He is a brain injury survivor who serves on various committees and was appointed four years ago to serve on the Governor's Permanent Advisory Commission on Traumatic Brain Injury. Email

Lisa Onorato has worked for BIARI for the last 10 years in the Resource Center. Currently, she is our Support Group Facilitator. For the past 34 years, Lisa has been teaching in the nonprofit field and devoting her time to individuals who have many different types of challenges including brain injury. She attended Roger Williams University (formerly Roger Williams College) and has experienced brain injury firsthand when one of her sons was in a severe accident as a teenager. Email

Faye Zuckerman takes charge of our Communications and Government Relations. She most recently held the Assistant State Directorship for Advocacy and Government relations for AARP Rhode Island. She ran the communications office for the Governor of the State of Rhode Island and was a reporter/editor at the Providence Journal. She holds a bachelor's from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and did her graduate work in Journalism at California State University, Northridge. At BIARI, she gets to combine her two passions of communications and policy. Email
